Added Nov 6, 2009 by petalia of Fairview (1 Reviews) we always enjoy our visits Tonight was our fifth visit to Alexis. We brought our friend who has just returned from a holiday in Greece and she enjoyed her meal of roast lamb. Delicious and a perfect amount, she told us. My friend and I always have the same thing...we look forward to the comfort food of souvlaki, keftedes, roast potatoes, and are never disappointed. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming. Alexis will be a regular, cozy date for us this winter. |

Service was ok as the restaurant wasn't that busy and we had ordered the kalimari, a lamb souvlaki and a lamb dinner. The lamb souvlaki was dry and had 5 tiny pieces of lamb and the potatoes were dry (the skin was so tough!). Not very flavourful overall. The Kalimari was half cooked and it felt like eating slimy raw squid. When it came time to pay, we gave them the coupon (buy one entree, get the second one free - up to $16 value) and the waitress said that we can't use it because they changed their location! Even though it is the same restaurant, same owner, same staff, same EVERYTHING just different location, they tried to get out of their commitments to the entertainment book. When we asked the owner, he told us it was an entirely different restaurant (which is a lie, because we had called earlier confirming that it was the same restaurant, just a different location).
Decor was less than mediocre. Walls were painted blue and they had maybe 2 pictures up. Looked nothing like a greek restaurant except maybe for the music they played.
I will NEVER EVER go back again and suggest that if you want a good greek food experience, Alexia is not the place to go. |

Service was barely ok but in a grudging way. I get the sense they'd rather not be busy than be busy. Food was, how should I say this, worse than my previous visits. Quality went downhill, prices went up, and what seemed like a promising venue and location is now just another mediocrity in the middle of Vancouver.
Guys, at the rate you're going, you won't make another 6-9 months through this winter. Look around Cambie Village ...... Stella's, Pied-a-Terre, several new Asian restaurants moving in. Why should people pay $15-30 to eat at your establishment when there's so many better choices ? Rumor has it Vij's has secured the spot at 14th where Arroyd-D Thai Restaurant recently vacated.

What a waste of a good location. This could be a great summer restaurant, with the windows opening on Cambie, but the food is disgusting. Ordered the eggplant dip to start...a greasy oily slick of harsh garlic. Prawns were well overcooked with no nuance of flavor, again just oily garlic yuck. Calamari was chewy, greasy, and served with overgarlic'd tsatziki. Also received the wrong drink...a lemon drop or similar instead of a martini. The server was friendly and fast, but unfortunately for her she's working at the wrong place. Even at what appear to be reasonable prices, Alexis is a total ripoff. I can't imagine anyone eating here twice. |

It was during the snow storm that our Mayor did nothing about, so driving was difficult. We were out, so we thought we would grab something. My husband went in and ordered it and they said "20 mins". He paid, and we decided to drive around and bit and head back when it was ready. When we returned they said that it wasn't ready and that it would take another 30 mins! Having already paid and b/c we were hungry we decided to wait. They said that they were really busy... then we realized the guys that we helped push out of the snow were eating their entrees - and we had helped them after ordering! THEY DIDN'T BOTHER STARTING OUR ORDER B/C WE WEREN'T SITTING IN THE RESTAURANT! I told them that we were here before everyone else and their response was, "Well, our cook, he is really old, just look at him, he can't do it." I am not sure what "it" meant, but I guess it was either put orders in order, or cook - either way it was a complete joke, and possibly the most messed up response I have ever heard out of an incometant, mouth-breathing waitress. When we finally got our food - one hour later, they didn't throw anything in for free or even apologize, and it was just as disgusting as the service and tasted just as old as the cook. Too many onions, mushy crust, and the lasagna and that weird sweet taste that all cheap-half-assed restauarants seem to create in their lasagna. Don't waste your hard earned money on this place - even if their food was edible. Go somewhere where they are appreciative of your business - these jokers aren't. I am looking forward to the day they close and a good restuarnat can go in. 'THE WORST ON CAMBIE' |

Food was mediocre at best. Had the calamari, goat cheese and hommous appetizers. Were edible but nothing to write home about. Ditto the lasagna. Had a weird meat sauce and not much tomatoes. Maybe it's a Greek thing, I don't know. Tiger prawns were, again, ok but nothing special. I'm sure there's better Greek out there! |

| Added Oct 30, 2008 by LotusRapper of Lower Mainland (9 Reviews) New location(?) on Cambie Next to Park Theatre. We were there (2) last week. Fairly busy night, as there were a few people waiting at the door. But we got in just before the rush. Service was slow and disorganized. We ordered the roast lamb shoulder dinner and kalamaria dinner, one drink and no desserts. I have the say, being a picky roast lamb shoulder patron (Kalamata has been the reigning king for many years), Alexi's lamb shoulder was more flavorful and tender. Also it was a couple $ cheaper and about the same portion as Kalamata's. The kalamaria was quite good too, not greasy, plump pieces of squid with just the right amount of breading.
Overall the food value is good, but service needs improvement in terms of speed and efficiency. We never did get any water right up until the end when we had to ask :-(

| Added Sep 15, 2007 by mikeivb of Kitsilano, Vancouver (1 Reviews) Slow Service, but decent food I thought I would try this place out since I had a coupon in my entertainment book and I live fairly close to the restaurant. The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere with the music and the dim lighting, and the food we had was actually pretty good!! Although it does not make up for the slow service throughout the night. We had to constantly ask for things that would have seem common sense to bring to us such as side plates and forks when we received our calamari. When we did ask for things that they should have brought they took about 10-15 minutes each time, and we actually had to remind the waitress a second time for one thing.
I would only recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesnt mind wasting time waiting around at the sacrifice of some good food :) |

| Added Feb 13, 2007 by eastsider of The Drive (2 Reviews) Generally disappointing This was our first visit to Alexis' Greek Cuisine. There are five in our family. Three ordered the souvlaki, all of which were tough and dry. Two selected the rack of lamb and rice wrapped in grape leaves, and these were very good. The service was somewhat slow (there were only four other people in the restaurant!) and the table cloth was dirty. Ambience needs help; looks cheap. Prices are reasonable, that is if you avoid the souvlaki. |
| Added Jan 21, 2007 by Laura of North Delta (1 Reviews) A great place for a late-night dinner I went here for dinner a couple times. Good, comforting, home-style Greek food. The restaurant is lit by quiet candles and ambient lights and greek music plays in the background. I particularly enjoyed the quiet and warm atmosphere and the personal and attentive service. |
