Service
We wanted to celebrate a happy occasion on the weekend so thought this charming little restaurant that has been around for years would be a good choice.

Well, we were so disappointed with what we received I felt compelled to come on here with a review.

If you are expecting any kind of service or value at all this should not be your choice of locales.

Upon arriving we were greeted and shown our table. This is where the service ended.

Our server seemed quite bothered to be at work this particular night. We waited forever to have our drink orders taken. Then we waited a long time once again to have our food order taken.
We arrived long before tables around us yet their meals were all served before ours. Once it did come we were extremely disappointed with the majority of our meals. Two people had the steaks. They were so full of fat, had no taste and were very dry.
The prawn dinner tasted like it was soaking in a no flavoured cream sauce. The Schintzal was nothing memorable.

During dinner not once did our waitress ask us if we needed anything else, our water glasses stood empty throughout the meal.
The bread basket sat empty on our table throughtout the meal along with the plates, these were never removed to make any room.

Eventually dinner was cleared away, we were still not asked how things were. We asked for the dessert menu, a cart was brought around, we ordered and then waited for 15 minutes for a dessert that needed little preparation.

It was an unfortunate expereince with a service that is clearly lacking, the food was so so, very disappointing experience for the prices that are charged. Certainly would not recommend this establishment.

Always a wonderful experience
My husband and I have dined many many times over the past 11 years at the Bedford House and have yet to be disappointed. The service and food are ALWAYS excellent. Without fail, I always have the rack of lamb....beyond delicious. My husband always has the catch of the day. We have taken his employees there for Christmas party suppers and have been treated like royality. The only place I have dreams about.

Great Experience in Langley
Took a trip out to Fort Langley to visit some friends and to have dinner at the Bedford House. The overall experience was excellent, the food was outstanding, my wife and I opted for the chateaubriand and it was prepared to perfection. Our dinner guest's chose the fresh halibut from the daily features and where just as impressed with their meals. Our server was extremely knowledgeable when it came to both food and wine recommendations and we will most certainly return for another visit sooner rather than later.

Quiet and Familiar Fine Dining, and that's a good thing!
The Bedford House was the first real restaurant I ever went to as an 18 y.old. In 1983 I was invited by my high school girl friend's mother to dinner at the Bedford House. Prior to that, the height of my dining experience was "Dino's Place" -Lougheed Hwy in Haney (if it is still there...)

So... 25 years later I was looking for a quiet place for a annual dinner for joint venturers in a business project. I talked to Bea (manager??) and told her my needs: privacy to discuss our business, but we did not want to be ignored by the servers in some out-of-the-way corner. (Try to find a quiet restaurant in Langley for a party of 11) Most of the party would be over 50 years old and I wanted something with solid familiar food, prepared well, a good wine list, no loud music, etc. In short, big on class, small on attitude

I was more than pleased. My guests were delighted with the food and the staff were excellent. This restaurant has fine dining classics - rack of lamb, chateaubriand, schnitzel, steaks, halibut and salmon. Familiar stuff, sure nothing fusion or avant garde here. In truth, it was likely a similar menu to what I had 25 years ago - and there is nothing wrong with that.

I have enjoyed West, Cru, etc all within the last several months. I loved them all. But what started me on a love of fine dining may well have been that meal at the Bedford House 25 years prior. My overall experience I rated "outstanding" in large measure because the staff took care of the us very well and we all enjoyed a great evening.

Poor service spoiled occasion
Dec.21, 2007. We had a family Christmas dinner of a party of 14 served in a private dining room upstairs which was very nice. The food was tasty and fairly well presented. However the service was poor Forty-five minutes into visit, we had seen no waiter only the bus girl filling up our water. We had not been given Beverage nor Food Menu. Finally, one of our party members asked to see the Manager Following this a waiter appeared with his paper to write down our drink orders without realizing we had no menus from which to make choices for beverages or food. We had to ask if there was any specials offered . The service improved some during the meal with the manager also assisting. Everyone enjoyed their food. Following the meal, deseert and coffees were ordered. However it was served before all of the dirty dinner plates were removed from the table which was pretty tacky.
There was no apologies. Very disappointing service from a well established higher end restaurant. Needless to say our tip was small.

Great experience
My husband and I were riding through Fort Langley on our Harley and decided to go for dinner at the Bedford House as I was out of town for Anniversary. We were not dressed as we normally would have been, but were very warmly greeted by our host. We had great Lobster Bisque, Oysters Rockefeller, Rack of Lamb (done to perfection) and a seafood dish on puff pastry. The lamb was the best I have had in years and, as they did not stock our favourite wine, were assisted in choosing a comparable one. We were constantly attended to by more than one server. We enjoyed our meal so much, we are going back tonight with my father-in-law for his birthday. It could not have been a more enjoyable experience. It was quite busy, but we were never left waiting for service.

First & last time.....
This is my second review of this restaurant as my original review posted on Jan. 20th was deleted. Not sure why......

I felt compelled to write a review of this restaurant as there were no reviews anywhere on the internet about this establishment. I feel that anyone wishing to dine here in the future should have the opportunity to read a honest dining experience from a fellow diner.

I had dinner at the Bedford House on Jan. 20th for a special family occasion (my father's 70th birthday). There were 11 guests in our party. The ambiance was beautiful and they provided us with a semi-private area with a large enough table to seat our whole group - which we appreicated.

However that's where the compliments end.

This restaurant should not be classified as fine dining. The food was cold, lacked flavour and was poorly timed. Half of our table was served 'warm' food, while the remaining guests had to wait a good 10 minutes for their food to arrive.

When we voiced our displeasure to the manager (at least we think he was the manager), our comments were ignored and he was non-apologetic.

Aside from serving us cold food and pouring wine, our server was very unattentive and never asked us how our meals were (until it was too late). They comp'd two entrees but by then, the memory of this special day had been ruined by our worst dining expereience ever.

Not the way you want to remember your father's special milestone birthday.
