The staff who are friendly to others are rude and impolite to me (despite being a loyal customer) and neglected to provide me with a receipt today and served another customer ahead of me. The deli meat looks like it is of inferior quality to other butchers and is old. They do carry a variety of goods, but there is a store which has opened down the road that is comparable to their selection. The only reason I would go is for some of their 'in store' made food, but due to my recent experiences II will not return again. |

Their deli meat looks suspect at times though. I have a feeling it does not move fast enough. Good prices on olive oil, pasta etc. The staff is pretty helpful. Flat bread they sell is very good. For deli meat though I am often tempted to walk all the way to the butcher on Denman, its better prices but more importantly seems to be stored better. |

The owners are super-friendly, know many of their customers, and are always ready to help. This is a family-owned deli that offers a variety of harder to find packaged goods, cheeses, meats, and also has homemade Iranian food every day (at least two dishes to choose from).
There is absolutely NOTHING as good as their chicken and rice. Seriously, it sounds boring, but Oh. My. God. I could eat until I puke (in a good way) and keep on going.
The owners are more than happy to help, offer recipe tips, and recommendations. The food is out of this world, and always includes a vegetarian option in addition to the meat option (although rarely do they offer pork, which is a nice change). The food is authentic and tasty.
The sandwiches are freshly, custom made and always taste fabulous.
The Baba ghanoush is SO good (seriously, I could LIVE on it), the humous is fantastic, and I just don't have enough good things to say about this little spot!
Cheap, too! Two people can get take-out dinner for $8-15 depending on the meal! |
