The place is small and quaint. Not the best decor, but that's not what counts! The staff were friendly and seemed appreicative we chose their establishment. We started with the fresh lemonade and loved the cool and sweet/tart taste. We ordered spring rolls, a small tom kah gai, and (the main event) chicken and prawn pad thai. Hubby (a pad thai virgin) enjoyed every bite. The soup was spicy and delicious. The spring rolls were crisp and not too greasy. The portions were plentiful enough to feed us both to the brim.
One note: we ordered the food medium-spice since we likeit hot - yeah, might go for mild next time as it seems the definitions differ slightly!
We will definately be back! |

This little restaurant makes the best Thai food I've ever had. Larp Gai, Tom Kha Gai, Satay, salad rolls, curries.... everything is outstanding, and fresh mango w/sweet rice for dessert! I've been a regular customer for almost two years, and while the ambiance is very plain, the fabulous food brings me back again and again. |

The quality of the meat and vegetables is always high. We usually take out, so can't comment well on the ambience of the restaurant. It is reasonably priced, made quickly, and outstanding in taste. I hope this gem of a restaurant stays around for a long time. |

The kitchen is very small resulting in slow service when the restaurant is busy. If you're planning on having a party here, make sure she hires extra cook for that day or your guests will be eating at different times.
The portions are not very large and you will have to pay extra for rice. If you order rice, try the coconut brown or coconut white rice. It's sweet and I treat it as my desert whenever we don't order fried banana ice cream.
Someone mentioned that their favorite dish here was the spring rolls. I don't recommend them. These are most likely frozen and store bought. Try the chicken salad roll instead.
This little restaurant needs to replace it's stained tablecloths but this will not stop us from going here. I try to support her little business. I have noticed the restaurant is less busy now that she raised her prices.

Very authentic interior and the place is run by the owner and his wife. We ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum Khai soup, Chicken and Cashew and a Shrimp dish. All pretty good, nicely balanced. Portions were ok. Pleasant dinner.
Food was tasty and they were really nice people. Quaint would be the correct description of this place. |

Their staff is pretty friendly and since there was seven of us showing up at different times he had to come and take our orders separately.
It wasn't our first time at a Thai restaurant so did compare the food to other places and to be honest, it wasn't spectacular. We live pretty close in Coquitlam, but I don't think we will return.
If you go, try their Thai Tea. It is a cold drink that was pretty tasty. Nice a refreshing on a hot Friday afternoon. |

Service can be a little bit slow if the restaurant is packed, but it is always friendly.
The food is good, but the spring rolls are the best thing on the menu.
The restaurant has a cozy feel to it.
I can't really find much to complain about, and I will be returning again. Go support this small, local restaurant next time you're in the area!

We arrived at around 5:30 on a Friday night and the place was almost full by 6:30. My 6 year old had the chicken satay and loved every bite (she's a very picky eater and I was thrilled that she enjoyed it so much). I had Goong Pad Nam-Prig Paow (sauteed prawns), which was very tasty and my husband the shoo-shee salmon (grilled salmon with red curry sauce) -- I really loved this dish. The taste of the lime leaf was great. The rice is a mix of white, brown and red jasmine served in a large bowl -- very good. We also had the Tom Yum Goong, which was okay. The service was very friendly if a bit lax. I think the server was a bit overwhelmed but we really didn't mind. We will be back. |

However, the pad thai was relatively tasteless, even the spicy one with lime on the side lacked the kick it should have had. Large servings for $9. Althu I showed up 10 minutes later than the said pickup time, I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. The interior is small and humble, giving it a more down to earth, authentic feel, which I prefer. Service, if slow, was very friendly and good natured. |

I guess we have high expectations having consumed some excellent Thai food in Thailand, Hong Kong and elsewhere.
The decor is very minimal with travel posters being the main attraction. Table cloths needed a wash and the meal came on small Corel plates with white paper napkins. I understand the need to keep costs low in a family run place but with a bit of imagination they could do better.
We ordered pretty typical stuff - a curry dish, Pad Thai and Chicken Satay. Would have enjoyed a Singha or two but no liquor license here (yet). The food was pretty average. Home cooked yes, but lacking many of the exquisite flavours that makes Thai food so special and unique. Where is the Basil, the lemon grass, etc? The chicken satay ($6.95) was juicy and tender but small portions. Overall the meal lacked kick even though we ordered medium spicy, upon the recommendation of the server.
Perhaps to the first time Thai diner this place might be OK but if you've experienced great Thai food you'll find this a letdown I'm afraid. |
| Added Nov 9, 2007 by WestCoastMunchers of Coquitlam (24 Reviews) Very pleasantly surprised My wife and I dined here Wednesday evening, Nov 7, 2007. We recently moved from downtown Vancouver to Coquitlam so finding the level of food we were used to there difficult to come by over here. We were curious about Little Thailand and decided to go in. From outside the place is very cafe looking. We were greeted by a young guy who warmly welcomed us in.
They do not have a liquor license though I was ecstatic when our server told me I could run across the road to buy beer and bring it in here. This 'feature' is very much missed here in BC and I know this is rife in Europe and Australia. We order Tom Kai Gai soup to start with and it was yummy! We had a rice dish and a Penang Curry for main. We were very, very thrilled with the food. Top quality, cooked by Thai chef too. Prices were very reasonable too. We will be going back regularly now! If you love Thai food, this place has to be tried!

I enjoy the sidewalk grill, tender juicy chicken, fresh ingredients and fantastic papaya salad.
Their deep friend Banana with ice cream is the best around.
Give it a try, support a local small business. |
