..Thats something to say. This place is nothing special or fancy, but the food was good and the price is quite cheap. Service was much more polite than places such as The Boss Restaurant and the ambiance was comfy. You can get traditional western-style diner food or Chinese.. we both ordered the hamburger platter and milkshakes. All for less than 20$ |

New Mitzie's, is a classic Hong-Kong style cafe restaurant - all clean, bright, and modern. I have enjoyed similar (rather Westernized) Chinese restaurants in cities all over the world, and Mitzie's is one of the best. I walk past a dozen of the more traditional Chinese restaurants to reach Mitzie's, and have never been let-down by any menu item. The 'Coconut Chicken and Burmese Noodle Soup' is a very mild curry soup made with coconut milk, full of Burmese noodles (the cook is from Burma) bearing a remarkable resemblance to spaghetti, topped with shredded chicken and a sliced hard-boiled egg. A delightful mix, and a very satisfying favourite for my daughter and I. Try 'Hong-Kong coffee' a strong brew, finished with evaporated milk. My friends inevitably become fans at their first taste. |

I was in Chinatown, and I have chosen restaurants at random before and had good experiences, so I thought why not? Well, now I know why not: I had Beef and Tomato chow mein, a Westerner's dish, but not hard to make. When I order chow mein, I do not want ramen, thank you. As to the tomatoes, I have seen people rummaging through the dumpster at Sunrise Market, but I didn't think the cook at New Mitzie's was one of them. I didn't touch them because I wasn't sure they were actually edible. Nice server, though. |

While many places have decent fried rice, New Mitzie's fried rice has that special stir-fry aroma essential to good Chinese food. The two stir-fried dishes we order the other day were both full of good flavours and not oily at all. The portions were also very generous and the prices reasonable. Service was fast and friendly. Recommended. |

Mrs. C and I were meeting a friend in Chinatown, and we needed to find a place to eat. We ended up at Mitzie’s. I know it is in the part of Chinatown infested by drug addicts and assorted riff-raff, but the restaurant itself is not too bad. It is clean and comfortable.
I had a toasted Denver omelette, Mrs. C had French toast and our guest had Shanghai noodles. Where else could the three of us get exactly what we wanted and all have dishes with pronouns in the names?
The omelette was terrific, the FT was reported to be fluffy and tasty, and the SN’s were also said to be good. I had a coffee too, which was just fine. The service was good, and the whole place including the w/c was clean.
It was a tasty meal, and we didn’t see any weirdos in the place, so it was all good. Plus it was ridiculously cheap.
Recommended for the braver souls among you.
