A Decent But Overpriced BBQ Place
Don't expect anything outstanding from Ozark's Famous BBQ. The food is pretty much understated and lacks anything outstanding. Sure, you won't walk away disappointed but the high price for their meals and appetizers don't bring justice to your taste buds.

I'd suggest you go somewhere else to find a decent BBQ in Langley. Even Denny's cooks up better meals than this place.

Good BBQ - hits the spot
So 4 of us went on a Tuesday night a couple of weeks ago - it was totally dead, so our chances of avoiding the awful service I had read about were pretty good, and I was right, sort of (will explain). We all ordered the all-u-can-eat ribs, which were good. In fact, the waitress was really nice as 3 out of 4 of us couldn't eat more than a regular serving of a full rack so she reduced our bills to the normal rate of a full rack vs. all-u-can-eat. The 4th ate a lot of ribs. Must get the ribs with sauce!! The sides were good, I had the beans and baked potato (no sour cream though, arghh), the others opted for mashed potatoes and/or fries. All said they were good. Service was good up til this point.

Then came dessert, and to the waitress' benefit this was not her fault. We were one of 2 parties in the place, and we ordered one dessert to share between the 4 of us (we were pretty full-o-ribs). It was deep-fried cheesecake, which BTW tasted kinda like a gooey cinnabon for some reason, anyway . . . it took over 20 minutes for the thing to come out? The kitchen people apparently forgot about the order? The waitress redeemed the situation by bringing out 4 forks and a knife with the dessert, and split the amount on each of our bills, so that was good forethought.

I don't think I'd initiate the idea to go back, but if someone else suggested, I'd probably agree. I'm still waiting for Boonies BBQ to reopen. Now there's some good BBQ!!

Underwhelming
Im going to be quick on this,

Food - Not good not bad, not a good way to have a great restaurant. Had some "rib tips" were deep fried smoked dry ribs. WAY over cooked and hard as hell. Main dishes were ok, more braised than authentic BBQ. sauce is mediocre. I guess if you can't make your own pulled pork this would seem decent, but I can, and I know whats better... mine. The sides were pretty plain, too much vinegar in the beans and coleslaw. Mashed potatoes were just like mom used to make, dry and boring. All pretty mellow.

Service - Ok I guess, seemed a little flaky. I have experienced alot worse though.

Value - Very bad. They write on the menu how they cut their own meat to save the customer money. I don't think that $18.95 for 4 slices of brisket and mass-made sides (coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and beans) is a very good deal at all. Brisket is a pretty cheap cut.

Ambiance - Oh the humanity, too much spiky hair and affliction t-shirts with bad tribal tattoos, too much wine gobbling suits and overall more people drinking like its a bar then enjoying the food, but hey, if you had the food you would drink to enjoy it too. It was very loud and very "open" not that I am against open floor plans, but when you have a table of 10+ drunks beside you cussing and swearing during your meal it gets old fast.

Been here tried this, not coming back.

if you're heading out to langley.....
Went there with a group of friend's for Thanksgiving. Had heard a lot about this place. We weren't disappointed. Plenty of parking at the back, intial reacton on entering was positive. The layout is simplistic and comfortable. Big screen tv's are placed strategically around the restaurant.

The dishes at Ozark's are reasonably priced. We shared a platter which had chicken, pulled pork, yummy beans, coleslaw, ribs etc - on the menu it says for 4, it was enough for 6 and we still had left overs. The big beef ribs were amazing and the corn bread is delicious. We would have loved to have ordered dessert but at that point our eyes were bigger than our bellies.

Our server was patient and very efficient. Though i could see how some of the other servers would need to up their game and why other reviewers haven't been as compliementary. I guess we were just fortunate that night. I wouldn't make a special effort to go there, but if i were in the area - i'd go back again for sure,

A Little Rough Around the Edges, But Getting There!
To be fair, I am divided on this place. The service was lacking, and the prices were just a little steep for my liking, however the food was excellent, and to me that's still the most important consideration. So we didn't get asked if we needed anything, and didn't get a refill, we had pulled pork and beef brisket and enjoyed it a lot! We will be back, it's worth giving them a bit more time to hit their stride.

Nice Lunch
We had a nice lunch here. The chicken breast was very moist and tender, the side dishes were fine. I think there could have been a little more barbeque sauce on the chicken for my liking, but it was very delicious.

Since there were only a couple of tables occupied we were seated right away, and served drinks quickly. The server did not, though, come back to offer more drinks during the meal. Another woman came to ask how we liked the meal, and proceeded to take away used dishes. I didn't like this, I would have preferred to have the dises removed at the end of the meal instead.

We were offered tea/coffee and dessert, but did not partake as all the desserts were way too high fat, and selection was very limited.
I liked the decor, it was clean and simple, no carpet or draped to collect dust.
The out door patio is a nice idea, but I wouldn't want to sit at a wooden picnic table. It was raining so it looked dreary. Nice glass tables and umbrellas would be more inviting.
Overall it was nice, the food was good and I think I'll try it for dinner some time.

real BBQ in Canada wow
Finally a genuine BBQ restaurant in the lower mainland. My last visit to the area included a feast of Ozarks ribs. The only thing close to Ozarks are a few BBQ establishments south of the border. The sides of potatoe salad and beans had a homemade flair, unlike the stuff we are accustomed to which is scouped out of five gallon barrels. I don't understand the negative ratings, perhaps like all new restaurants Ozarks had some glitches, or perhaps some customers are orientated to the fast food of the franchise chains. Next trip to the lower mainland of B.C. will definately include dinner at Ozarks, the challenge will be to try something other than the ribs which are to die for.

Awsome food!
Having read the previous reviews I am surprised and I feel like I need to clarify our experience. My wife and I have dined here twice and had great "REAL" bbq and service was impecable! People should give their heads a shake and realize that this restaurant is "Family Owned" not a huge mash of corporate owned restaurants that all taste the same.

They have only been open for two weeks, the food is all home made not out of a bucket! In our opinion this food is more than worth the couple extra minutes that people are complaining about. About the portions ...we found them to be on the bigger side. The beans are to die for and the potato salad and coleslaw were great too. Not to mention the ribs and prime rib.

We plan on being regulars at this place as entertainment is promised shortly and they are doing a fantastic job now, can you imagine them in a couple of months!

Boo!
Went there for the first time for my birthday no less. First, they weren't ready to open the restaurant for dinner service. Adjusting the lights, bright, dark, bright, dark. Counting the stations & tables for each server. The manager walking around like he was filled with air, barking our orders the the servers, trying to maintaint that "i'm important" aura. The atmosphere was very sterile as previous poster stated. There are 2 spelling errors on the menu but gave the benefit of doubt as we were there for the food & not the spelling....

The server was prompt with our drinks, bottled beer & an alabama slammer (spelled salmmer in the menu). We were looking at the very pricy menu as food was being served to other guests. Realized this is probably not our restaurant as portion sizes are very small for prices listed & other guests body language showed they were disappointed as the plates were set down. The biggest steak is 12oz for $25. So we decided we would only get wings with our drinks for $13. They were luke-warm, greasy & smothered in way too much bbq sauce. We were not given a finger bowl and consequently left with the feeling of sticky fingers.

Will not be back. Gave our feedback to the waitress...she thanked us for our honesty & stated they had only been open for a week & half.

New BBQ in the area
Had a chance to try the new BBQ in the area. Generally I was disapointed. The service was really good and the enviornment freindly and clean but the portions where small and there was way to much BBQ sauce on the entree. I had the Briskett there where three small slices smothered in BBQ sauce, the sauce was good but overpowered the flavor of the meat ( perhaps should be served on the side). Side dishes of Beans, Slaw, and Potatoe salad are good but again small. My wife had the Chicken which had less sauce on it and tasted good but was the smallest chicken leg I think I have ever seen.

Overall I didn't think it was good value for the money and most likely wouldn't return or recomend it to friend's

Good, But Not Famous
Like the title says the food was solid, But by no means 'Famous'. I had the beef brisket (served with potato salad and baked beans) witch was very tasty but the portion size left something to be desired. All the food was also served on plates covered with dried parsley like some dated fine dining establishment. The brisket was very flavorful, but worth the 18.95 for 3 smallish slices? Not to sure.

The service was borderline terrible. My party and I waited 20 minutes for our drink order and after the second round resorted to ordering our next ones while our others were still half full. Granted the restaurant had only been open for one week at the time of our visit but still no excuse.

The restaurants decor was inviting albeit slightly sparse. There was a healthy buzz in the open concept dining area with a casual atmosphere. The only critique I could deliver would be that the overall dining space felt a little cold and could use a more theme inspired wall hangings.

With all this being said I'm going to give it a try again in a couple months. The next time I go I think I'm going to stick to one of the sandwiches as they look to be a better value. I hope they can iron out some of the kinks before i return.

Yummmmm! Barbecue!!
The Other Half and I have been watching the reconstruction of this place on the Fraser Highway in Langley, just across from Willowbrook Mall. Most recently, the location was Pepita's, but that closed down late last year. The building was stripped down to the walls, inside and out. Then a sign went up, "Ozark's Famous BBQ", and we really paid attention.

They have just opened; the OH and I were there for lunch on a Wednesday. VERY nice job on the renovation of the inside. Very spare, understated and comfortable. There is a small bar with very trendy-looking high seats. The whole ambiance is more sophisticated and downtown rather than country. Music was bluesy, underscoring the experience, not dominating.

Not too many people there (I think it was their first day open for lunch), and we were pleasantly greeted, seated and drinks served promptly. For lunch, there is a choice of serving sizes, a few appies, sandwiches (pulled-pork, -beef and -chicken), burgers and ribs. I am told that the evening menu will feature the BBQ aspect more heavily, along with steaks.

The OH and I both ordered the smaller size pulled-pork sandwich with fries. I had coleslaw as the second side, and the OH ordered BBQ beans. The buns were extremely fresh, the pork extremely tender, with a slather of BBQ sauce. Fries were OK, the coleslaw was excellent (more vinegar-y than creamy) and the beans were excellent as well. The small size was more than adequate. I would hazard a guess that the larger size would have more meat.

For the amount of food, with two pints of ale, we found the approx. $32.00 good value.

Something new and different for Langley. Well done and well presented; and the brand-new washrooms were impeccable! Highly recommended.
