We used the 1/2 price for the second meal coupons on Saturday and we should have realized this was the way for to fill an empty restaurant. There were four of us and we ended up paying for only one meal because the meals were so bad.
One person order potato skins that were cold and shrivelled. I order turkey dinner. I asked them to make sure the gravy was on the side. The meal came with gravy on everything and it was sent back. When I got the meal, the mashed potatoes had big chunks of uncooked potatoes, the turnips were still raw, the carrots were hard but eatable. I ended up sending that back and got a fruit salad instead.
We live in the neighbourhood and used to go to this restaurant whenever we were at Kensington Mall but we definitely won't be going there. If I'm going to an ABC Restaurant, I'll go to the one out in Port Coquitlam or Boundary Road. Don't waste your money here until they get a new cook. |

Waitress was pleasant. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The schnitzel was obviously deep fried in oil that needed changing badly therefore the meat had a bitter taste and was dry. The vegetables were tiny cauliflower bits and carrots and were mushy and tasted leftover from 2-3 days ago and were starting to taste sour...ughh The mashed potatoes were ok and the tablespoon of gravy was not as advertised on the menu. When asked how things were, I told the waitress and she offered a free dessert which I smartly declined. She then took $2.02 off my bill to placate me....although the meal was more than 12.00. Benches have large rips on them, place is old and well worn. I won't be going back. |

I tried to go there for Steak nights all the time, then they burnt my mediem-well steak, What you wouldnt think I noticed?... and next thing you know, they stopped, They were fine all the time, then boom it all stops, around this past christmas time maybe. Did you fire your good cook? I dont understand. The pastas WERE good too, I dont know whats wrong with this place. I gave up no it after a couple weekends ago. My roomates tell me to go there Mid week, like monday to wednesday or thursday so im told. Something about no teenagers working as the "cooks" I dont know how true that is. I must say this place would be awesome if there was proper Management, or make a change with the Teenagers in the Kitchen? Im not sure if thats the complete problem. But trying to save a few bucks on hiring teens to cook for an entire restaurant is silly. You just may lose your regular customers much like myself..... for an example |

Service: only 3 tables us included...and the other 2 were already on dessert/coffee when we arrived so we expected nothing less than what we got. server was polite, attentive, and food came out fairly quickly.
Ambiance: very casual and relaxing atmosphere. interiors are a little outdated but comfortable.
Overall: no complaints, if we out in this area again and are looking for some simple, home cooking this place will do. dont let the 2star rating fool you...i thought everything was "ok" but not as good as some places i've given 3stars+. we noticed that they offer breakfast menu as well so will give it a try in the nr future. |

I had a Canadian burger and salad, and my wife had a classic burger and rings. The burgers were excellent, and the salad was fresh and crisp. The rings were big and tasty but a little overdone.
The service was good, and the servers seemed to know a lot of the regulars. Repeat customers are always a good sign!
The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and I had a good meal. Plus the soft drinks are bottomless, which is a nice bonus.

(21 Reviews) Has great potential, but tip comment a negative impact; ABC on Hastings St at Kensington mall has the location and almost a captive audience/customer basis. Food is a moderate variety, little variety,no spicing, and imagination overall. It could be anywhere in Canada,or the world.but I think it could have a "Chefs special" each day to burst that image very effectively.
The hiring of female servers brings into question as to why no males or older females are hired by this restaurant ? Have you pondered this ?[sexual & age discrimination ?] Why do the youthful female servers continue to ask "Do you want the change "....? This hits a negative chord with me. I maintain it is my choice to tip or not, depending if I was given exceptionally good service and some suitable adjectives used, eg "would you like some freshly brewed coffee" ? I have been in the catering industry for over 35 years and I know when not to tip. This applies where anyone who literally demands the change[to the patron] be left as a gratuity.....in total. |

I went here with my family and they have a fairly standard menu don't expect anything fancy. Every dish has that home cooked taste and feel to it. I recommend anyone with a family to go here. All of the servers were nice and polite. I will definately return to eat here again.

My sister and I waited at the front for about 5 minutes before anyone greeted us. They walked by us several times and failed to make contact eventhough I'm sure they knew we were standing there. When we finally were greeted, we got seated in the absolute corner of the restaurant away from everyone else. They could not have made us feel more un-welcome. Oh, yes they could...we waited for our server for twenty minutes and when she finally came around to our little corner, she didn't even apologize. Only half of one side of the restaurant was occupied. So there couldn't be the "I'm really busy" excuse. The food wasn't that good either. |
