It is okay
Nothing more and nothing less. The place is passable and for the price of late night AYCE, this place is a solid pick. There is nothing special about this place and the service is busy and pretty rushed. The food is alright and is pretty typical of all AYCE places. Price on the other hand is pretty good when comparing to the rest of the late nights as long as you get menu A and not A + B.

Not bad, but not great, but too busy
The biggest fault of BC Sushi isn't even something you can blame on them. They are really busy! Lines are regular, and you better come prepared to wait a bit if your party is bigger than 2.

Food wise, it's decent. They prepare some rolls ahead of time, such as cali rolls (I've even gotten on that still had frozen "crab" meat in it). Nigiri is good though, and tastes fresh.

The place feels a bit grimy though, and the seating is old and the plates are very dated. Still, worth checking out if you're a quantity over quality person!

not good
Came here with some co-workers after work one nite. As one of us was craving sushi and being quite late this was the place they picked. Well the service was okay and the sushi wasn't very good. You could tell that they use very cheap ingredients and low quality fish, not fresh at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone, just not good quality.

Beat the clock
I hadn't eaten all day and while out with a group of friends, one of them suggested this place. Thinking back I could've done without eating but at the moment we all obliged.

It was still busy at around 10:30pm when we filed in, and the front staff told us that AYCE was doing last call in about 10 minutes. There is no order sheet so we just started barking out dishes to order. While there is a good selection to choose from, the food standard here just passes as edible. The rice on the nigiri, cones and rolls were mostly hard, while there were a few pieces where it was as soft as mush..thawed? The chicken teriyaki tasted burnt, but didn't look overdone, yet the batter was not fully cooked either. Those chicken wings had that 3 day old poultry smell and taste, but came out hot. The pollock in the california rolls were a suspicious near paste consistency, and those gyozas, it plain tasted strange. Most of the dishes appeared to be made in advance and left to sit before served.

Service is the absolute minimal, they tossed our dishes on whatever space was available at the table and will lean across to do it. A missed a few orders, but they do clear empty dishes quickly, I was able to get an extra set of chopsticks immediately, they refill waters (no tea, though) and we even got a couple of thank yous on the way out. From beginning to end, we were done and had left in less than 50 minutes. Record time.

The space looks clean from the wait area, but some areas are claustrophobic, our booth complete with greasy table and with broken bench seat and all.

This place is for those with little to no discriminating taste, so don't eat here and gripe afterwards if you anticipate paltry on your plate. It meets the need to feed the hungry for cheap at the cost of (substandard) quality. It didn't make me sick..frankly I felt great afterwards but I doubt I'd be back.

Time is not on my side at this place
Went here for a lunch and found that the food was ok for the $9.95 menu but eh portions were very small and it takes forever for th food to arrive. So their strategy is to have small portions, take a long time to serve up those small portions and before you know it lunch time is up and one has to get back to the office...... hungry.
The taste of the ayce food is ok but slow service and portions sizes suck.

AYCE
Amazing everyone expects a 5 star performance from an AYCE. All I know is that they have geoduck, hamachi, uni, and red tuna on the AYCE menu which almost no other place does. I don't see why people would be going to AYCE for service, so I couldn't care as long as they have fair variety of food. No problems with the food selection especially when it comes to the premium stuff so I can't complain. And the hot food is equal to if not better than most other AYCE.

Bloody Awful!
Since writing-off BC Sushi three weeks ago, I've meant to submit my own review. Tonight, having ordered from it's neighbour, Temaki Sushi, I have been reminded of why I should never have given BC Sushi more than one opportunity to keep me as a customer. (I'm sticking with Temaki. MUCH better!)

If you've read other reviews about BC Sushi, you'll have noticed the consistently-shared opinions of others:
* terrible service.
* incredibly rude owners & servers.

Believe it. People have not exaggerated.

I work in a nearby office, where many colleagues order from BC Sushi due to their economical AYCE fare & generous bento boxes. Sometimes, we dine-in (the noisy, shabby digs). Other times, we order for pick-up. Since December, I've probably spent about $200 at BC Sushi, both dining in and taking out.

Every single time: rude service, dismissive owners/servers, whom seem to treat their customers like a herd of cattle. No "please", no "thank you", no smiles, no warmth, no acknowledgment of returning customers, being grunted at on the telephone, and just ... an over-all lack of consideration.

Upon my final experience there, picking-up a take-out order, I was treated as though I had "interrupted" a conversation between two young, Asian women (conversing in Mandarin or Cantonese). Upon "interrupting" them to pay for my order, they continued-on their conversation, looking at each other, grabbing my cash, and plopping my change onto the counter. No "please", and definitely no "thank you". All while the older woman (owner?) stood there ... ignoring me too.

As I stepped-back and said, "You're WELCOME! Rude!", they were too busy chatting to each other to even notice my obvious, emphasized comments. They had my money, so why should they care or listen, right?

Returning to work, pissed-off, eating my "so-so" order, I read others' reviews here, printed several pages, and highlighted others' comments about "terrible service" and "rudeness". I also wrote an accompanying letter, stating my disgust, letting them know that I would not be back.

After work, I walked back to BC Sushi, and presented a yellow envelope (my letter & those reviews) to the older woman, enforcing that I'd ordered from her business for the very last time. She played stupid, asking myself, "When did this happen?"

Hello! She'd stood right there, next to the rude girls, a mere two hours earlier. She didn't recognize me, probably hadn't noticed their blatant rudeness (because she herself is, at times, rude too) and offered a weak apology.

Nope. Not going back. Their sushi isn't anything to write home about, the restaurant itself (old booths from Binos, dirty, noisy, tacky) is extremely unappealing, and no self-respecting person should ever patronize a business with such rude, ungrateful, dismissive owners/employees. They don't deserve to receive my money, nor does ANY customer deserve such unacceptable rudeness.

Temaki Sushi: I've been a customer for five years. Excellent people, good sushi, warm, inviting, clean ... everything that BC Sushi never has been, nor ever will be.

Poor services
Yes I agreed, they are “Horrible service, missing ordering, and expect tips? No way”. eating here is kinda like fried chicken - the 1st bite is good and then it's all downhill from there. as a matter fact - it is difficult to discern the delicate tastes that truly good sushi embarks. there's also the likelihood of OVER-consumption

The service is pretty atrocious, even for all-you-can-eat. Staff is usually running back and forth and they constantly need to be reminded regarding orders, requests for refills and even the bill. With all that stress on the floor, not mentioning the sometimes rowdy customers they have to deal with they can be pretty sour

decent ayce sushi
tried this place out with a couple of friends on a weekend night because i was starving and i felt after this place did a good job of satisfying my hunger.
the food is average, you can taste that the sushi is not the freshest out there like some of the other japanese restaurants nor are most of the other dishes on the menu. there is no limit on sashimi which is good and their deep fried scallops are pretty tasty. for what its worth, the food is overall solid.
in terms of service, there isnt any. waiters and waitresses are there to take your order and after that, you are basically on your own. grab your own refills, grab your extra napkins, and whatever else you need.
ayce pricing on a weekend night was around 15 or 16 bucks, cant remember. that is an alright price but there are cheaper prices around town (just have to find them).
the ambiance is just like any other japanese restaurants. the environment is loud mostly with all the talking from all the other customers. that is expected with an ayce place.
bc sushi definitely took away that hunger, i ate til i could no longer eat. however, that is all it did.

Sushi for Profit, not for Passion...
I, like some other reviewers, have the luxury of having visited this restaurant in the past and present, and, as such, I can give insight into the restaurant.

I eat A LOT of sushi. Not just maki, but sashimi, nigiri, chirashi... you name it.

Sushi is an art form and a food. Now, AYCE sushi bars do not necessarily have to honour the art... but all sushi bars must honour the passion.

BC Sushi no longer bears the passion that drew me previously.

Service with a smile has been replaced with service with a snark, and the food has deteriorated in quality along with the ownership.

It saddens me to say that I will no longer be frequenting this sushi den when I have such a host of selection in this beautiful city which affords better pricing and service.

AYCE
Horrible service, missing ordering, and expect tips? No way.

I would never return after having been to this place quite a few times before.

Simple words: This restaurant has gotten to the point of 'No return', literally.

This place SUCK and is destine for closure.

No worries, plenty of Japanese places in Metro Van.

Absolutely Terrible - Will Never Go Back Again
I've been to enough All You Can Eat restaurants to be able to rate them against each other. The food here was alright, but the service was atrocious.

My friends and I had to wait for a table to open up despite an obvious section being free. We were never offered tea (which is usually what is offered before water).

Our first order came relatively quickly, but was never completed. Our second order tried to compensate for the fact that we never received the rest of the first one - however we waited more than 30 minutes for the second order to even show up. Even then we only received one or two items out of the several ordered.

When we questioned the server about it, she snapped at us that they were backed up but we would receive everything.
Last call came less than the 1.5 hours that we apparently have to eat ALL WE CAN EAT. In our outrage, we questioned again where our food was, and they said it was coming. We made an extremely large order for our last call, guessing we wouldn't receive any of it.

Sure enough - nothing came, and as we questioned another server, she snapped at us that she didn't know anything, too bad, it's time to go.

My friend asked for the manager upon payment and explained that the reason for not leaving a tip was purely based on the lack of service. The counter girl then replied with a snarky response, "Do you realize how backed up we were? I'd like to see you try".

I have been to enough busy sushi restaurants, and this restaurant was far from overloaded. There were still empty seats around. I will never go back here, and I hope you save yourself from this terrible experience. We only got half our order, and paid more than if we got a la carte. Regardless, the service was unbelievably terrible and the comments were uncalled for.

Worst Service Imagineable
I had been here once, several months ago, and had an enjoyable time.

However, on tonight's visit, we had to wait for a table while one section of the restaurant was empty; the group behind us was seated promptly in that section.

Half of our first order never arrived, and when we inquired about it, we were told it was on its way, as we placed our 2nd round of orders. Dishes on our 2nd order also never arrived, along with the missing dishes from our first order. We then received dishes we had not ordered, off of the more expensive all-you-can-eat menu B, which contains the Sashimi items. Again, we asked if we had more food coming that we had ordered, and were assured that we did.

Then, we were told it was last call, despite already having waited 35 mins for food that never arrived. We placed one more order, which also arrived incomplete. When we informed our server of the missing items, she shrugged and said it wasn't her problem. Upon paying, we commented to the managers about this poor service, and that we would have received better value for our food had we ordered off the a la carte menu; the manager said she would like to see us do a better job rolling sushi when the restaurant was busy.

I am appalled at the service we received. I have been to many busy restaurants before, and have NEVER been treated as badly as this. I am NOT intending to return here again.

Late Night AYCE 9:30pm- 10:40pm
went to this place a few times before. it was quite good previously.

this time had their late night. arrived at about 10pm. Made our first round of orders. food came really fast. food was pretty good. service was alright as there were not enough waiters.

finished 1st round of food and really to order 2nd round at around 10:30pm. food came a little slower which was fine. but as we were waiting for the 2nd round of food, the waiter came over saying it was already last call for orders, that was at 10:40pm. we were like WTF?? so we had like less than 1 hour to order. But some new customers came in for single orders and they were still allowed to order.

and not to mention some of the chicken wings that came were not well cooked because some were still raw inside.

** I believe this restaurant might have changed owner so the food and service definitely went down hill. **

We will likely not return as we did not feel like being rushed to order.

By the way this place closes at 12am.

Disappointing
Went to BC Sushi this evening for AYCE late night menu (from 9.30pm- There are 2 menu options: $10.95 for standard (A) or $14.95 for deluxe (A+B) which includes unlimited sashimi among a few other things)...although on fridays and saturdays add another $1 to that price. (Side note: if one person on your table wants the A+B menu - you all have to have that. I guess they figure you'd all want a little bit of their sashimi!)
I'd read the reviews on this site and a few others, and was looking forward to a good value AYCE dinner.
Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The service was decent, but there were very few servers who always seemed rushed off their feet - and were always hurrying us along.
The tuna sashimi was great - but I kinda have the feeling they have a really good piece that they give you your first portion from (3 pieces) - and then a different grade for any subsequent orders. There was definitely a difference in quality.
The really disappointing part was the rolls. I'm guessing because it was a friday night, and most people seemed to order the All-you-can-eat menu, they had made all of them in advance. We had quite a few roll orders, but every single piece was almost inedible. They'd obviously been made for quite a while - the seaweed was so hard and chewy it almost made me gag.
That's what I've now decided I hate about AYCE - you feel like you need to finish everything - even if it's bad - just so they don't charge you extra for "wasting food".
Overall, I guess it was good value for what it is, but I don't think I'll go there again.
Maybe it's better mid- week when it's a little quieter and the chefs don't feel the need to make so many rolls in advance.

Decent Sushi
I went there with my boyfriend and decided to go with all you can eat menu. We find that the food was great for the value. Food come out fast in a small portion so you can sample it and order more if you like it. It was so smart idea to serve all you can eat because the food is always cook fresh per order and not just sitting there in the tray like other all you can eat place. We order a few menu items and find it so fun to eat and order as you want. The service is a bit of a question because it was very busy that night. We will go again for sure because it is fun and the food is great.

Awesome Service!
It wasn't the best food but the service is really good. The managers and waiters/waitresses are always there for tea or ordering. Me and my wife always go there for the service most of the time since the food isn't the best. AYCE is pretty good with two menus. I feel like I need to write this review because I've seen so many reviews saying the service is bad, but in my opinion the service is the only thing bringing us back to BC Sushi over and over again.

Rude managers, questionable fish
did the AYCE thing - they have two separate menus - one for $10(something) without Sashimi, and $13(something) that includes sashimi (albeit 3 piece salmon and 3 piece tuna type AYCE).

I'll give them the benefit of having some big portions... sushi is of regular size compared to other AYCE places. They have plenty of cooked items for those who don't eat raw fish.

But that's pretty much where it ends. Once we were seated, no less than 2 minutes two people with "manager" on their nametags start asking us what we want - we barely settled in. We asked whether they had any slips or anything like that to write on - they tell us they just key it into their PDA's. "You can write what you want on your napkin." Fine... but what dining establishment manager tells you THAT?

First piece of fish I put into my mouth was a piece of snapper. WARM. Same with the salmon and tuna (which was MUSHY from being out too long). Decided to stick it out with the cooked stuff. Decent cooked foods - but the sushi rolls were of semi-decent quality. Don't have stomach cramps - yet. Therefore I question the fish.

Previous reviews talked about "hit and miss service". I agree. The managers will try to kick you out - the AYCE menu says the sitting time is 1.5 hours... and by the first hour, they're telling us this is the last call. HUH? Nobody else out there does that - and don't try to blame it on the definition of "last call" either... I can understand it if the kitchen closes at 2pm, that's fine, I can understand staff need a break too... but to say that this is the definition of "last call" is uncalled for.

Food's not bad for AYCE prices - good selection, semi-decent quality which is hit and miss - but the service - forget it. If you want decent service - look for the younger waitresses in the 20's. They work hard, and they try. The older, 40+yr old managers, forget it. They ruin the experience right from the time I sit down.

If I'm being served by the so-called managers, forget it, I'm bringing my business elsewhere. But if being waitressed by the younger girls, who try hard and bus the numerous dishes we had, I'd definitely reconsider.

A solid AYCE place!
If you've read my other reviews, you know I tend to frequently visit places I like. I believe restaurants that I think are good deserve the business. This place follows suit.
I've been here many times, for their "AYCE" lunch and late night. A nice, fast service place to grab some food if you're in the mood for "AYCE"!

long time customer might never go back
I've been dining at BC Sushi ever since its Yukiyama days and oftentimes would go once a week on a regular basis. I've always like the taste and quality of the food and the price has remained steady while other sushi places charged a bit more for all-you-can-eat. However, everything changed when I went for all-you-can eat last night. I know I'm not supposed to talk about health violations in this review (should be reporting to Vancouver Coastal Health which I work for), but I am more disappointed in the manager's services than the initial problem I encountered with my food. I found something in my food and pointed it out the the male manager (so far haven't had a problem with the female one) and he did not say a single word and just took the dish away. He didn't even look at me. He mumbled a few things to the chefs then came back (I was sitting on the upper level by the stairs) and he didn't have the courtesy to walk up the full 3 steps to our table and just threw down a new plate of oysters. Not a single word. I finished my meal and tipped over 10 percent still (normally tip 15%). Although I was deeply unsatisfied with his service, the waitresses there all work so hard and it would be unfair to strip them of their hard work. I guess I'm writing this because I was such a loyal customer and have always recommended BC Sushi to people I knew. All it takes is one really inconsiderate person to ruin the dining experience. It's really unfortunate because I was a loyal customer and now might never go back.

ok place to dine...
My friend told me B.C SUSHI is the best all-u-can-eat sushi place in Vancouver. So my boyfriend and I went there tonight. First of all, The place looks ok. But the service was kinda of slow. Because I think they don't have a lot of servicers there. So we waited a lit bit for order. And all the sushi are ok just like normal sushi in other places. But the oyster motoyaki is really small and it doesn't taste good at all!! And my boyfriend was trying to order Mirugai Sushi, but the girl told us they just sold out. But we asked a guy about it, the guy said they do have it.So I don't know whats going on with that. And we acturally order few stuff that they didn't give to us and we have to order it again. Anyways, this is a just a ok place for me.

my fave Jap all-you-can-eat place
I always overeat when I frequent this restaurant. I'm especially found of their scallop roll, tuna, and salmon sashimi. Their sunomno salad is also pretty yummy PLUS other raw sushis :-) would recommend coming here hungry, very hungry.

The service is also pretty good. The waitresses are friendly and diligent at punching in food orders. They also do a fairly decently job serving us. I like this place~

OK food Great service
Compared to all the other AYCE restaurants, BC sushi had really good service. The waiters were nice and friendly and were always there when called.
The food was ok though, not the best. Some slices were way too big or way too small and the fish didn't taste that fresh.
But all in all, BC sushi was alright.

Its alright
I went there recently and got the dinner menu. For the price, the food selection is quite large and they have drinks too. The service is prompt and friendly but the food seemed a bit cold/stale even though it arrived in a timely fashion. The tables and chairs also seem a bit old and the overall environment seems like it could use a good cleanup.

Bad service, good food
Went there recently and I think it's the first time I've been to a late night AYCE where the chopped scallop roll actually tasted FRESH even though it was 10 PM at night. So kudos to them for that. Their other raw food was fresh too.

Service wasn't the best as our waitress kept on impatiently looking at her watch and kept on asking "That's it right? That's it? This is the last call. That's it right?" I really don't know what her rush was as other group of people JUST sat down and obviously the restaurant wasn't closing at that moment. Also, our group didn't even order that much and half of our second order didn't even show up. ... so the service here seems the same as other AYCEs. but who goes to AYCE for the service right?

good food, poor service
Great deals on take-out (25% off on pick-up!) and AYCE late-nite. The service is poor but I keep coming back because the food tastes good and is comparable to other Japanese restaurants, and is also cheap. For ayce, food is brought fast and hot. But sometimes they totally skip out on your order and bring half of what you requested. Beware of a young woman who works at the front - she doesn't smile and has a bad attitude.

Great sushi for takeout (25% off!)
We have both dined-in and gotten takeout, and the takeout was a much more enjoyable experience.

We ordered 3 types of sushi for takeout: salmon tempura, yam tempura, and BC roll. They were very very delicious and well made with lots of fresh-tasting fillings. Plus the bill only came to $8 because you get 25% off for takeout!

Dining in was a different story. The restaurant was dirty looking and the lights were dim. Service was okay, but a bit on the rude side. I don't understand the bad service these days. I wasn't even comfortable sitting in the chairs because they seemed unclean. I ordered noodles and they were greasy and bland. My friend ordered a combo and it was just okay. We would definitely go back for takeout sushi, but not for dining in.

no second chance
The food:
Some of the food was typical AYCE and some of it was definitely below AYCE quality. Sashimi was not as fresh as it should be. Cooked rolls and the like were okay. Appy type dishes were disappointing.

The people:
Service was not very friendly and seems to be hit and miss per request. You either get what you asked for almost immediately (like tea/miso soup/the bill) or it would never happen. Accuracy of your order - you either got what you ordered in the right quantities or you didn't get it at all.

The price:
Similar to other AYCE places.

The place:
Pretty bare, nothing special. Our table was not clean, and a couple of our plates had stuff stuck on it. I did not use the washroom facilities on the advice of my friend who did go, so I cannot comment on that.

The verdict:
I have no intention on going there again.

Getting disappointed
I went there several times with my friend, but I think the quality of their food is getting worse. I used to love their chopped scallop sushi, but when I tried it last time, it totally disappointed me, and the salmon sashimi also tasted worse than usual. I thought maybe they just hired some new chef...

Not bad for AYCE
A little pricy but well worth if if you are hungry. Service is fast and unlike some AYCE places , whatever you order you will receive. They also include uni on the AYCE menu for those that enjoy it. I noticed all other places always charge extra for this. There's also a good variety for those that are not into raw food.

Given the price tag $ 28 per person, its okay
Had the all you can eat menu $ 28.

Food - given the price the food should be quite good, and the food overall was quite decent. Had many varieties. Had the usual sashimi, beef (raw & cooked), shrimp, oysters, chicken wings etc, had desert also.

Service - the waiter/tress were alright. Food came really fast, 1 min after ordering, the food already started arriving. refilling tea was at timely manner. taking away empty plates were slow, and had to be asked in order to have the plates removed.

Place/Restaurant - okay decoration of the place, had the feeling of a bit cramped. Tables were somewhat small.

A sashimi lover's heaven
This place is a really good one if you love fish. I do, so I love BC sushi

Their rolls are OK, I like their selection of different kinds of seafood such as octopus (generous portions), grilled mackerel (so so good) and, importantly, unlimited sashimi at lunch! Take that Tomokazu and Shabusen! But really, if you love sashimi you are really gonna get your 15$ worth here.

However, you probably wont be getting everything you ordered (in fact, I have been like 5 times and have still never gotten my butter octopus, somehow)

BAD sunomono, no gommae, good tempura, bad noodles.

Lunch maybe dinner? omg!
BC sushi has good selection of sashimi to try during the dinner. But I think it really isn't worth my money unless i plan on eating only expensive sashimi for whole night. I found 2 strands of hairs on 2 different green salad. The kimchi was sweet and sunomo was rock hard.

Their washroom is the most disgusting place on earth. I dont know how they are still operating under this dirty conditions.

For the money's worth, if you really crave sushi then go for lunch. you can pay 2 dollar or so for sashimi unless you are one of those ppl who just love eating variety of sashimi.

Service is decent but the waitor and waitress are awfully rude and throw dishes around when food is there.

I don't recommend going there for AYCE

Love the food, the ambiance....different story
My favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place in all of greater vancouver. Service isn't as bad as it seems on *MOST* days. Sometimes it gets quite bad though. The only problem is the atmosphere you're eating in. It's a bit gloomy with the dim lights and dirty appearing in some parts of the restaurant. However, the food is amazing. Some sashimi problems occur every once in a while when they're using food from a few hours back. The temperature of it kills the taste, but the rest of the menu is consistent and lovely.

Recommended strongly for AYCE lovers.

Don't Waste Your Money
I saw the decent reviews on this site and decided to try the local BC Sushi out, twice actually, and was sorely disappointed.

The service wasn't as atrocious as many made it sound, but it definitely wasn't good. A number of things we ordered were missed.

I am definitely not a sushi pro but the sushi we were served both times were bland and flavourless. The rice was stale, the fish didn't taste fresh, and many rolls were obscenely large. Food is meant to be enjoyed and I didn't enjoy any of it.

Ambiance? It feels like a bit of a run-down diner but ambiance isn't much of a concern when going for all-you-can-eat. I did notice that the bathroom was filthy though.

I have since found much, much better deals in both taste AND price around town. Avoid BC Sushi.

Solid Sushi Selection
I realize there may be a few people that gripe about the service at this restaurant, but if you were to wait a few minutes, i.e. have a little patience, you might get what you want.

Personally, I have never really had any issues with the quality of the food or the service and my wife and I used to go to the Sushiya on Granville. We decided to try going to BC Sushi as we didn't feel we needed the charred meat part anymore and we have actually seen the selection and quality of BC Sushi's offerings increase.

The other thing that's good about BC Sushi is that they offer both wild and farmed options which many other sushi places are often evasive about.

I guess the only small thing that I'd like to see them add to their menu would be things like Natto or Tempeh, as they are nice offerings for the vegetarians and can make for good eating and intestinal happiness.

All in all, they're a solid 3 stars across the board and could work their way up to 4s over time.

Don't ignore me!
Went to this place a couple times, but the most recent visit was a real big slap in the face.

Food:
Typical AYCE stuff.

Ambiance:
Dirty, avoid the washrooms at all cost.

Service:
What service? After getting 2 rounds of food, they pretended I was invisible. I called the waiters over, I waved at them, I even waved the menu in the air, and no one would come over. All the tables around me were served. When a waiter finally came 15 minutes after I started waving, I just told him to give me the bill. If that's how you treat customers, then you won't see me back

This place is off my list, never again.

I Really Don't Understand The Hype About This Place...
Went to it a couple of weeks ago with some friends...and expected to be pretty happy.

Food: Fish is NOT FRESH! Omg...I had a tummyache afterwards and that was so not fun. the fish was really fishy smelling, and I absolutely LOVE love sashimi, so needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. However, the beef sashimi was fantastic so we ordered loads of the stuff. Rolls are really yummy too. I suggest the House Roll. But it's the fish that really turned me off..how can a Japanese restaurant run the place with fish that's so smelly and fishy?

Service: Our servers were pretty nice and got all the stuff we wanted pretty quickly, which was more than I expected since I read about the horrible service from all the other reviews here. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that there were a bunch of dishes that we had to reorder because they never came. There was one particular dish that still had not arrived to our table an hour after we've ordered it so we just told the server to cancel it (I swear, they just lost the bill or something).

Ambiance: It's like any other All-You-Can-Eat Japanese restaurant. Nothing to brag about but nothing to really complain about either.

Overall: I'm not sure if I'll come back because it's kinda out of my way to go there for smelly fish but yummy rolls. The price is reasonable since I had enough rolls and beef sashimi to make up for the other sashimis that I couldn't eat due to the fishiness. And if I were to drive all the way down there for all you can eat sushi, I would most likely drive a lil farther to get to Tomokazu instead.

Sceptical, but very good
Note: this is a review about the LATE NIGHT (930-1115) ONLY

The last two times of been here, I've had really nothing to complain about. In terms of AYCE sushi, it doesn't get much better than this. The service was very good both times I was there, they may have fired the bad waitresses I don't know. The best part about this place is the menu for their late night sushi. There's so much to choose from, and it's made quite fresh. You can get sashimi included as well, and it's only 14.95, which is a great deal. All in all, if you're looking for AYCE sushi, this is the place.

Great Selection! Grumpy waitress!
They have quite a large selection for their AYCE! They even serve Red tuna & Sockeye sashimi which is uncommon. Their lobster sushi was gross though, tasted really powdery and even moldy. The Shark Fin sushi was nothing but jellyfish and abalone felt like rubber. My opinion would be to not even serve it if your going to make it that bad, and it was their 'special' too. Shown on the stand by the table. Other than that the rest of the food was as good as an AYCE can be.

The first server that came by to take our order looked really bored/tired/bad mood or whatever as she groaned & grunted her way through our orders which was really rude and annoying. If it wasn't for the other servers coming by every once in a while I would have really complained and give this place 0 stars if I could for service.

The design was nothing special, very bland and boring looking with an awkward entrance way.

I don't eat AYCE often but if I do I would consider coming back as long as I don't get that waitress that feels like she walked through a car wash.

Value restaurant especially sashimi enthusiast! First reason is this restaurant is all you can eat and second is that there are plenty of choices among various sashimi. However, service is not beyond the expectation for this type of restaurants.

great food, not so great ambiance.
my boyfriend n i went for all you can eat and most all you can eat places are about 24.95 + for a two page dinner menu. this place had 5 pages for 21.95 and the food was delicious! too bad we were so full that we couldn't try the whole variety of sushi they offered.

my only complaint is the atmosphere, it looks old and a bit run down. my plate was also stained with water marks.

the service was great, we just ordered and our food arrived in no time and the waitresses kept coming back and forth every couple minutes to refill our teas and drinks.

what ever happened to customer service?
Been here twice. The first visit was okay, except when I ordered tea, which was closer to cold than tepid. Once I complained they made sure my next cup was hot. The food was okay so I went back with my fiance for all you can eat late night sushi. They were pretty busy and we had so many people serving us it was hard to know who our waiter was. As the food started to arrive I found I was grateful for my cold tea this time- the waitress managed to knock my tea into my lap with the plate she was bringing. Soaked me completly. I got quick apologies and they cleaned everything up really fast. But I don't think I made a big enough stink because they still charged me full price for my meal. I think the speedy clean up was to hide the incident from the manager.

over charging late night menu compared to other places
considering that they charge 3 dollars more than other late night all you can eat places i thought it was OK.

the food was average, and selection was the same. there isn't anything more that's well worth talking about for them to charge 3 dollars more.

aside from that, Edward the waiter is a pretty bad server. he placed the plate of maki rolls on top of the ends of my hair which made it sticky by the end of the night. he then refilled my cup of tea and wet my cellphone as well.
he noticed but he didn't apologize.

I'm full!
I tried the late night AYCE sushi and had a mostly pleasant experience. The selection was pretty good, and the food was better than average for this sort of place. The calamari was particularly noteworthy, as were the chicken wings. And the sushi was good, too.

The restaurant was full, and the servers were working really hard to keep up, so I have no complaints about the service. The hot orders were a bit long getting to the table though. As far as ambience, it wasn't great. I also found grease on my plate and a bit of sauce on my napkin before the food arrived. That was kinda gross...

Overall, I would say this place is good value for the money if you aren't too picky. It brings back happy memories of Bino's, and its a lot closer to home than Richmond Sushi :) .

It's Alrite....
We normally dont come out to this part of town, let alone for sushi, but we were in the area and my bf had heard about this place so we decided to give it a try.

Food: we had the all you can eat lunch. the menu had a pretty wide selection. typical chinese run japanese place quality. the menu says bbq corn, but it's more like steamed corn.

Service: food comes out very quickly. plates cleared and water/tea refilled quickly. the service there is more about efficiency than anything.

Ambiance: nothing really stood out. nothing really special.

Overall: if i'm in the area again, i wouldn't mind coming back. be prepared to go for a walk after all you can eat tho!

Overall, The food is really good and the selection is very great and the waitresses and waiters are really friendly. Their oyster motoyaki are mediocre tho, but they offer many things that normal all-u can eat dunt offer, so its good for ppl who has never tried any Japanese food that are too exotic. Do try their lobster and chopped scallop susi, they overflow the sushi with very yummy lobster and scallop meat. I have never tried the more expensive menu, but I am looking forward to trying it. Where's my miso soup??
Food: There was an extensive all you can eat menu but we were in a hurry so ordered a la carte. I liked how the tempura had a lot of crunchy batter and wasn't at all soggy. Chicken teriyaki was good but you can't mess that up. The california rolls were kinda mushy but were still ok. Sushi was good (wasn't frozen like a lot of other "japanese" places).

Service: Food came very promptly and we were given drinks right away. However, they forgot my miso soup and ebi sunomono and we had to ask for it in the end. We got an extra miso soup out of it but never received my ebi sunomono. They are also so concerned with clearing plates quickly that they'll start doing the whole clean up bit while you're still sitting there. A waiter dropped some plates on some customers behind me cuz he tried to grab too many at once... :(

Ambiance: Very typical. Nothing special.

May go back if I'm in the neighbourhood and need a quick bite for cheap. My bf and I were able to get full off of $24 after tax! Of course the all you can eat is much more expensive (20 or 23 per person depending on what all you can eat menu you choose) but no need for it when you can get full from just the a la carte menu which can end up being much cheaper.

I would say that BC sushi is somewhere in the middle of Tan Popo and Shabusen. The service was excellent and very friendly. I Remember Bino's!
Every time I go into the restaurant, I'm reminded of the many breakfasts we had here in its' former incarnation (Bino's). We have dined here a number of times in its' current state. For some reason, the quality has gone down a bit since the name changed from Yukiyama to BC Sushi. When we first ate here over a year ago, the service and food were pretty good for the all-you-can-eat menu. Never tried the a la carte menu. Recently, however, the service has been kinda hit and miss. We have sat for quite a while without any service, and while our first orders would come out, ordering a second round would usually result in many missed items. Their Seafood Motoyaki used to be really good - now it's a lot smaller, and not as flavourful. I might give it another chance. I noticed they were advertising all-you-can-eat breakfast a little while ago....wonder what that involved? Don't see that sign up anymore!

Tries Hard But Food is Subpar
The service was good for an all you can eat-ery. We were served promptly and always received exactly what was ordered which I have had a problem with somethimes in other all you can eat sushi places. The food came out fast, almost too fast. Like it was sitting on the counter waiting to be served. Sure enough, the hot dishes were cold. The sushi was not fresh. Overall, the food was just plain bad. I am probably being generous with a food rating of 2. I will not return.
